Vatican City Tour
Visiting the Vatican with your private touristic guide will make your Sistine chapel tour unique.
The Vatican Palaces are an immense complex of buildings, irregular in plan, whose construction dates back to different periods. Following the return of the popes from Avignon in 1377, the Vatican became the permanent papal residence. In 1473, Pope Sixtus IV erected the Sistine Chapel as his private papal church.
We begin our visit with the famous statues collection of ancient roman art, busts, sarcophagi, and bas-reliefs; the famous Laocoon; the Apollo del Belvedere. We'll proceed trough the Candelabra, tapestry and Geographical Maps Galleries and the Raphael stanzas, where Pope Julius II commissioned Raphael to decorate the walls of his living quarters.
Next, we enter the Sistine Chapel, the supreme masterpiece by Michelangelo who spent four years painting the Sistine chapel ceiling with scenes from the "Creation" and the altar wall with the "Last Judgment".
Following our tour of the Vatican Museums, we step into the immense St. Peter square and St. Peter Basilica. St. Peter's is one of the wonders of the world, and perhaps the most impressive of them all. The best renaissance artists were involved in the realization of this great church. Visiting the basilica is a way to enjoy the art history of the Renaissance and Baroque period . Michelangelo’s architecture and Gian Lorenzo Bernini baroque art, makes the visit of this basilica a real must.

We are delighted to have chosen you for our trip to Rome and hope to see you again in your beautiful city very soon!!! Please pass this on to Ilaria for us and thank her from us all for a great tour.... Kind Regards Louise Coll
Vatican Imperial Rome and Walking tour Marzo 2010: I want to thank you so much for two wonderful days spent with you and Guia. What a fantastic experience! We saw more of Rome in two days than most people would see in a week. You were both so personable and knowledgeable. When we returned, we passed your names on to a travel agency in Frederick, Maryland-Cruise Holiday. I hope this comes to something.Again, thank you so much for taking us around Rome. You were the highlight of our trip. Regards. Alison Dove
Hello Just had to write and let you know what a great time we had on our trip to Rome. Now we are back the kids are still talking about the Gladiator for a Day training. It was so much fun. I personally loved the visit to the Vatican museums and the Sistine Chapel. It gave me goosebumps. Our guide did such a great job laying out everything before our stop in the chapel, it was very helpful to know what to focus on and to have the background details to decide what we wanted to see. Thank you for making our trip so memorable for all of us. The rest of our trip was fabulous also. Kiz Dreier Lake Oswego, Oregon
Guia, We had a wonderful time touring the Vatican with Flavia. She truly had a wealth of knowledge to share with us that allowed us to enjoy our time at the Vatican more than had we ventured it alone. I hope she had a reasonably nice time guiding us. We are looking forward to our touring tomorrow with you. Thank you and look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Dave
